Just like the chain stitch, but in reverse! This stitch is used to make outlines, straight or curved lines, and to fill in shapes. Personally, I find the reverse chain stitch to be quicker and easier than the regular chain stitch.
How to Do a Reverse Chain Stitch:
- Make a small running stitch. This will be the anchor for your first loop.
- Bring your needle up at the bottom of your first loop. Thread your needle through the anchor stitch, then bring your needle back down at the bottom of the loop.
- Next, bring your needle back up at the bottom of your second loop. Thread your needle through your previous loop, then bring your needle back down at the bottom of the loop.
- Repeat step 3 until your chain is complete!
Tips:
- To make a wide chain stitch, keep the stitches at the bottom of your loop further apart. For a thinner chain stitch, bring your needle back down at the same spot, or right next to your first stitch of the loop.
- To make smooth curves, make the length of your chains shorter.
