The running stitch is the most basic of all embroidery stitches. This stitch is good for outlines, straight lines, or curved lines.

How to do a running stitch:
- Bring your needle up from the back of the fabric.
- Bring your needle back down again, to make your first stitch.
- Repeat. Try to keep an even stitch length and an even distance between each stitch.
Tips:
- Don’t pull your thread too tight, as this can pucker up your fabric.
- Stitch by “stabbing” up and down can help to make your stitches more even.
